Teenytini by JK Lange was born in 2007:handmade designs in crochet and knit for babies and children aged 0 to 8 years. JK Lange studied women’s and menswear design at the Hochschule fuer Kunste in Bremen, Germany, and finished her MA with a first class degree in 2000. It was at college that she developed a passion for childrenswear, graduating with a degree show entitled 'Sometimes childhood comes along for a visit'. In 2009, with Teenytini going from strength to strength, JK Lange encountered a challenge she didn’t expect. A sudden change in her eyesight led to a diagnosis of Leber’s Optic Atrophy, a hereditary condition that results in partial sight. After the initial shock, JK Lange soon realised that Teenytini’s unique designs had always existed in her mind’s eye long before they became garments. Her sight may have changed, but her vision for her work and her company was clearer than ever. Rather than hindering her design, this diagnosis led to a new lease of life, imagination and creativity, sparking and a hugely successful new range.
